The ESSTAC Daeodon front panel is a magazine carrier intended for use with armor plate carriers/vests that utilize two ITW QASM buckles and velcro for attachment to the front of the plate carrier.
To use this front panel on different plate carriers that are out on the market, make sure your plate carrier has the 1" female buckles and they are spread to the industry standard of 6" apart (4 PALS rows wide) from the inside of the buckles. Also, make sure the front of your plate carrier has loop velcro material below the buckles where the Daeodon panel attaches.
Front panels are easily removable/swappable. Simply pop the two buckles, pull the Daeodon panel away from the velcro surface of the plate carrier, and swap panels. They are built the same as the KYWI pouches and include the same kydex insert, but instead of webbing on the back for mounting via MOLLE/PALS, they have hook velcro and two male buckles to integrate specifically with a PC.
Besides quick swapping of magazine loadouts for different missions, the other advantage of the Daeodon panel is that you end up with a lighter weight and more streamlined (thinner) plate carrier setup compared to using a separate mounting system and front flap with pouches that attach via MOLLE/PALS.
The Daeodon front panel does not come with the Female QASM buckles.
